SAN ANTONIO -- The NHL’s Vegas Golden Knights have been searching for a new AHL affiliate to locate in the desert, and they found it in San Antonio.

  • San Antonio Rampage relocating to Henderson, Nevada
  • Will serve as Vegas Golden Knights's top affiliate 
  • Will begin play in Nevada in 2020-21 season 

The San Antonio Rampage and the Knights Thursday announced the sale is a done deal, pending approval by the American Hockey League Board of Governors.

 

 

The Rampage will play out the 2019-20 season in San Antonio and start play in the Las Vegas area in the fall.

The team will play at the under-construction Lifeguard Arena in Henderson, Nevada, which is located just southeast of Las Vegas. 

The Golden Knights are currently affiliated with the AHL’s Chicago Wolves. The Rampage currently serve as the affiliate team of the NHL’s St. Louis Blues.

Spurs Sports & Entertainment purchased the Rampage in 2005. They were division champions in the 2014-15 season.

The future of hockey in San Antonio remains to be seen.
