SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Rampage are taking time to honor the teams and players who blazed the path for them Friday night inside the AT&T Center.
- Rampage are 3rd hockey team in San Antonio
- First team established in 1994
- Will wear different jerseys in each period
The Rampage are the third team to play professional hockey in the Alamo City. In 1994, the first San Antonio hockey team was established, the San Antonio Iguanas, who played at Freeman Coliseum from 1994-97 and 1998-2002.
The Iguanas had two finals appearances in the Central Hockey League. The San Antonio Dragons played in the same place--part of the International Hockey League--from 1996-98 but faltered under financial stress.

In 2002, the Rampage were given their permanent home in the AT&T Center after being developed from several other teams and locations in the American Hockey League.
“After playing here for a year, you can tell people really love it,” said team captain Jordan Nolan.
The team will wear jerseys from the Iguanas, Dragons and current Rampage jerseys to honor the over two decades of history.

“It’s going to be an awesome night to put on a different uniform after each period to show respect to those previous teams,” said Mike Vecchione.
Autographed jerseys will also be available to fans for auction. A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit local nonprofit organizations.
