SAN ANTONIO – Former San Antonio Spurs star Tony Parker will have his jersey retired on Monday, and the mayor has decided to join in on honoring him by declaring Saturday “Tony Parker Day”.

Mayor Ron Nirenberg announced via Twitter Wednesday afternoon that he would proclaim “Tony Parker Day” during the city council A-Session at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
In the post, Nirenberg thanked Parker for being a large part of San Antonio during the 17 season he played.
During his time in San Antonio, he was recognized as a member of the “Big 3,” which included Manu Ginobili and Tim Duncan. During that period, the Spurs won four NBA championships.

Parker is the ninth highest-scoring NBA player by total career playoff points scored (4,045). In 2007, he became the first European player ever to be named the NBA Finals MVP.
The Spurs will face the Grizzlies on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Parker will be honored throughout the game and special features will be added inside the AT&T Center to commemorate the evening.
