SAN ANTONIO — "Building The City You Deserve" is the campaign message incumbent Mayor Ron Nirenberg is promising voters for his second term in office. On June 8, voters will decide if that's the city and mayor they want.

"Our campaign is about our vision for San Antonio, the improvements for transportation that we need to make and the investments that we've already made in basic infrastructure," Nirenberg said.

That investment includes plans for a comprehensive multi-mobile transportation feature. As for what issues he wants to continue building on, Nirenberg said he wants to focus on improving the local economy and public safety.

"The stats don't lie, and the truth of the matter is when I took over as mayor, our crime rate had spiked to a 25-year high. In two years, it's now at a 30-year low," he said.

The race for mayor between Nirenberg and his challenger Greg Brockhouse has intensified in the last month. Both men have not be shy about letting the community and voters know how they feel about one another.

For Nirenberg, he said, his opponent ultimately lacks a clear plan.

"The truth of the matter is the difference is going to be clear. We have a firm record of achievement over the last two years, and we have a clear and articulate a vision for the future," Nirenberg said.

It’s a vision the mayor hopes voters will take into consideration when they go to the polls on June 8.
