Clouds and moisture are spreading northward across Texas on Friday. This will bring a warming trend that will last through Saturday.

Low clouds, patchy fog and a few passing sprinkles are possible through Sunday morning. Temperatures will run above average.

The big story is that a strong polar cold front will blast into Texas on Sunday, a bit sooner than forecast originally. It will bring the coldest temperatures so far this winter.

The front should arrive in north Texas before 10 a.m. Sunday, central Texas before noon, and in San Antonio by early afternoon. The front should be along the coast by 6 p.m..

A wind shift will arrive first with the colder air an hour or so after. Falling temperatures and gusty winds – but clearing skies – will continue through Sunday evening.

Monday morning will bring lows in the 20s for north Texas, near 30 for Austin and low 30s southward. But no precipitation is expected.

Look for morning lows below freezing and afternoons above it. Most areas will be dry, but some precipitation is forecast for the Wednesday/Thursday timeframe. The potential for wintry weather has not yet been resolved.
