It's official: two tornadoes touched down on Sunday night near the Capital City during a fast-moving storm event, according to a report from NOAA.

The strongest hit western Copperas Cove, some 65 miles NE of Austin, at 5:24 P.M., according to the official storm survey team and was on the ground for four minutes.

The twister was rated EF-2 with peak winds up to 115 mph, and it was believed to be on the ground slightly over one and a half miles, moving south-southeast.  At the peak, it was estimated to be as wide as five football fields.

While there were no injuries reported, approximately 196 individual residences experienced impact of varying degrees, according to Coryell County officials.

Later, at about 6:34 p.m., a weak EF-0 tornado was also reported to have touched down 7 miles west-southwest of Liberty Hill near the Williamson-Travis Co. line. That's roughly 25 miles northwest of Austin.

The EF-0 rating was issued based on eyewitness reports and pictures of tree damage. The weather service declined to do a storm survey at this location.
