AUSTIN, Texas — The No. 2 prospect in the ESPN 300, Arch Manning, officially signed with the University of Texas Longhorns on Wednesday.
There's a lot riding on this. He's expected to be the centerpiece of the storied team.
The quarterback from New Orleans is the nephew of Eli and Peyton Manning. His father, Cooper Manning, played for the University of Mississippi as a wide receiver. Arch Manning was the quarterback at Isidore Newman High School in New Orleans and has been considered a top prospect since middle school.
Manning committed to UT in June, choosing the school over universities in Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana and Virginia.
The Longhorns have had three different quarterbacks over the past season. Manning will get the opportunity to compete for the position as a Longhorn.
