AUSTIN, Texas — Texas quarterback Hudson Card is expected to enter the NCAA transfer portal, according to ESPN.
With five starts for Texas and a strong career playing at Westlake High School, Card is expected to be one of the top quarterbacks in the portal. As a redshirt sophomore, he will have three years of eligibility remaining at his new school.
According to ESPN, Card is targeting a Power 5 school and is looking to join a winning team with opportunities to grow. He started two games for the Longhorns in 2021 before he redshirted, and started three games this year.
Card battled Ohio State transfer Quinn Ewers for the starting position, but was defeated late in training camp.
In his career at Texas, Card threw for 1,523 yards and 11 touchdowns. He cannot enter the transfer portal officially until Monday and will be immediately eligible to play once he moves schools.
Other Longhorns who have so far announced that they are entering the transfer portal include offensive lineman/tight end Andrej Karic, linebacker D.J. Harris Jr., wide receiver Troy Omerie, linebacker Prince Dorbah, safety JD Coffey and cornerback Jamier Johnson.
