TEXAS — Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson are back together, reprising their roles from “True Detective” in a new Nic Pizzolatto-directed commercial.

The "True to Texas" ad encourages Texas lawmakers to offer new incentives to attract film and TV productions to the Lone Star State.

The ad also features cameos from actors Dennis Quaid, Billy Bob Thornton and Renée Zellweger.

McConaughey draws from his character Rusty Cohle to tell Woody Harrelson, “Hollywood is a flat circle, Wood. Round and round like a record with the sound off.”

“So what, you just wanna turn the record off?” Harrelson asks.

“No, I wanna change the tune,” McConaughey responds. In changing the tune, McConaughey aims to persuade Texas lawmakers to bring more projects to the state.

“Real Texas business owners and citizens see every dollar spent from this incentive put $4 back into the state of Texas,” McConaughey adds.

Texas senators filed a budget last week that included $498 million for improvements to the Texas Film Incentive program. The proposed budget allocates $48 million in small film and TV commercial grants, plus up to $450 million in tax credits contingent on Texas residency for employees.

Texas' return on investment for job creation is quadrupled, according to the budget.
