AUSTIN, Texas — Beginning Dec. 10, the Austin Trail of Lights’ opening may disrupt traffic and parking near Zilker Park.

Stratford, Barton Springs and MoPac Frontage Roads will be closed from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Dec. 7 and 5:15-11 p.m. on Trail of Lights nights. Lund Road will be restricted to local traffic only at this time.

Parking lots around Zilker Park will close at 4 p.m. to the public on the nights of the event. Parking requires pre-paid passes; no passes sold at the entrance. Parking permits need to be printed and displayed to enter. 

You can take bus routes 3, 30 or 803 or hop on the rail 550 to take you to the park.

The Trail of Lights also provides shuttle service from Toney Burger Center and Republic Square to Zilker Park for $8.

If parking is sold out on your desired date through the Trail of Lights, you can pay to park at these 3rd party locations:

  • 505 Barton Springs Rd.
  • 425 Riverside Dr.
  • 1715 W Cesar Chavez Street

The Trail of Lights festival runs until Dec. 23, offering free admission on Dec. 10 through 13 and Dec. 16 through 18.
