Beyoncé is calling for all cowboys to hit the dance floor with the release of the “Pony Up” remix of “Texas Hold ‘Em” on Thursday.
The remix introduces a New Orleans bounce to the original song, which ranked No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in late February.
The “Pony Up Remix” also features new samples, vocals, verses and – most notably – a breakdown as she cries out for “all my cowboys to the dancefloor.” This is followed shortly by a second call, urging fans to “Get on the dancefloor!”
"Texas Hold ‘Em" was one of two songs preceding the release of Beyonce’s latest album, “Cowboy Carter,” which made its debut on April 29. Since then, the album has reached millions of listeners who are looking to bust out their leather boots in spirit of these country-inspired tunes.
The Houston-born artist also launched a new website this week, beencountry.com, where she reminds listeners, “This ain’t a country album. This is a Beyoncè album.”
Many listeners speculate this new website is a prelude to more Beyoncé action and maybe even “Cowboy Carter” tour.
