TEXAS — A Houston woman has officially become the oldest living American at 114.

Elizabeth Francis, born in 1909, was certified by LongeviQuest. She has been given this title after the death of 116-year-old Edie Ceccarelli of California.

According to the LongeviQuest, Francis is the fifth-oldest living person in the world at the age of 114 years and 214 days.

Born in Louisiana in 1909, Elizabeth Francis arrived 11 years before women were granted the right to vote in the United States.

Francis is also the second-oldest living person in the world who lives at home.
