AUSTIN, Texas — In Bastrop, Texas, 57 neglected dogs and puppies were rescued from a home and sent to the Bastrop County Animal Shelter last week, according to the Austin Humane Society (AHS).
Among the animals were three senior dogs, 45 adults, five puppies and four neonates (under two to four weeks old). AHS welcomed the dogs into their shelter after members traveled to Bastrop to help with intake and medical evaluations.
When the dogs arrived at AHS, they evaluated them again. Afterward, volunteers assisted in cleaning the animals before they were tucked into their temporary homes.
A court order granted AHS official ownership of the dogs. So, once spayed or neutered, they’ll be up for adoption starting Saturday.
“If you’ve been thinking about adopting, now is the time! When they’re available, the dogs will be posted on the Austin Humane Society website at austinhumanesociety.org,” AHS explained. “You can browse the animals online, then come to the shelter to meet them in person (no appointment required).”
