TEXAS — Last-minute costume preparations are a must because spooky weekend has officially arrived. With Halloween being on a Monday this year, different organizations and bars/restaurants have prepared a weekend full of events to kick off the haunted holiday.

AUSTIN

Nightmare on Gibson Street has been going on all October. It will wrap up with a DJ on Friday and Saturday night. Gibson Street Bar is also hosting its Halloween party Saturday night. Dry ice punch bowls and deadly cocktails are just some of the drinks on the menu.

Boogie it out on the dance floor at the Belmont on Friday, Oct. 28, 10 p.m. - 2 a.m. The spooky silent disco event will have three DJs providing you with different genres of music. Buy your tickets here. You must be 21+ to participate.

What is Halloween without its classic movies? Enjoy a free “Hocus Pocus” screening at the Fareground on Sunday, Oct. 30 at  8 p.m. You can head on over to reserve your spot on the green after 6 p.m. There will be $4 happy hour drink, popcorn, cotton candy and more.

Boo at the Zoo is a Halloween-themed, family-friendly evening. The last weekend to enjoy this extravaganza is this upcoming Friday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m. through 9 p.m. Tickets are 19.95 and can be purchased here. Children under 2 are free. Ticket entry per person includes unlimited visits at the Haunted House and a 10-minute haunted train ride. There will be no candy distribution at the zoo.

Pioneer Pumpkin Nights runs through Oct. 30. Enjoy a spectacular show by fire dancers, after glow tarot reading and a festive stroll on a path decorated with different themed pumpkin displays. There are food trucks and vendors in Pumpkin Land as well as live pumpkin carving and a haunted bus for additional entertainment.

Ventana Ballet is performing an immersive, adult-only Halloween spooktacular of “UNDEAD: Haunted House of Dances” on Oct 28 and 29 at 6:30 and 8:30 each night. You must be 18 or older to attend and 21 and up to drink.

The Arboretum is hosting its fifth Boo and Brew Oct. 29 from 4 p.m.-6p.m., where there will be alcohol sampling, DJs, face paintings, vendors, Candy Crawl Trick-or-Treat and raffles.

SAN ANTONIO

Zoo Boo! At the San Antonio Zoo. This event is between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on Halloween. This event is a non-scary, fun event for the whole family. Everyone is encouraged to dress up in non-scary Halloween costumes.

13th Floor Haunted House San Antonio Attraction. If your kids are younger or if they get scared easily, then this event may not be for them! If you are looking for a good scare on Halloween, this event is perfect for you.

Fall Fest/Trunk or Treat is a safe, fun and free event if you’re looking for free candy, food and drinks, costume contests, prizes and games! From 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., you can enjoy all the festivities at Cleft of the Rock Church.

DALLAS

Frontiers of the Flight Museum will be hosting a Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics. If your kids are 8 years old and older, they are welcome to accompany you to this event. 

The 17th annual Autumn at the Arboretum will be happening from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Halloween and guests can come to the Dallas Arboretum and enjoy 100,000 pumpkins, gourds and squash as well as Cinderella’s carriage and themed pumpkin houses! There will be tons of displays and events for the whole family. You can buy tickets on the Arboretum website.

Lil' Stranger Things - Trick or Treat in The Village will occur 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. This event is perfect for little fans of "Stranger Things"! You’ll be able to walk your kids down Village Glen Drive and collect candy, and then head over to the game selection for even more fun! Check out this Facebook page for more information!
