AUSTIN, Texas — Grammy-winning guitarist and Black Pumas co-founder Adrian Quesada has announced the upcoming release of “Jaguar Sound,” his second new album of 2022.

The new album will be out on Nov. 18 on ATO records. It follows “Boleros Psicodélicos LP,” another of the Austin-based artist’s 2022 releases. Quesada’s 12-track collection will feature a fusion of hip-hop, psychedelic soul and Italian film scores from the 1970s. It reflects upon the first few months of the pandemic as well as on the earlier years in Quesada’s life on the border of multiple countries, languages and cultures.

Most of the “Jaguar Sound” was produced, written and largely performed by Quesada himself in Austin. The upcoming album features special appearances from Ikebe Shakedown, Neal Francis on piano and Mary Lattimore on the harp.

“Film scores and 1970s library music have always played a big part in my musical language as they paint a cinematic picture without words and that is very much something I draw influence from. It eventually got to the point where I wanted to bring them to life in my own way and turn them into songs,” said Quesada. “I started setting some aside that matched thematically, and I began recording live instrumentation. I find as I get older that sometimes I feel a responsibility to show the possibility to build bridges and coexist between different worlds. I want someone to discover something they normally wouldn't entertain."

“Jaguar Sound” explores musical themes and an abundance of genres that express Quesada’s emotions and obsessions. Recording of this album took place at the same time he was bringing “Boleros Psicodélicos” to fruition. Quesada is bringing both of his 2022 albums to life this weekend as he hits the stage at Austin City Limits.

Quesada will take the stage at Austin City Limits Music Festival on Saturday, Oct. 8.
