AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport will hold its first-ever job fair on Tuesday, Sept. 20. Austin residents and Central Texans are invited to learn more about employment opportunities across the airport, such as Transportation Security Administration (TSA), select airline and concession partners and the Department of Aviation.
“This is a transformative time for our airport,” said Gina Fiandaca, assistant city manager for mobility. “As Austinites have shown record-breaking demand for air service this year, our airport teams are working together across the airport to connect Austinites to even more nonstop destinations than ever before. I applaud the Department of Aviation, airlines, TSA and concessions for coming together to find solutions to the labor shortage that has impacted airports and airline operations here at home in Austin and across the world.”
The job fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Austin Southpark Hotel at 4140 Governors Row. Job-seekers can connect directly with employers and teams in the food, beverage, retail and hospitality sectors of the airport, as well as learn more about federal and airline operations.
“AUS is home to hundreds of different teams and supports thousands of direct and indirect jobs,” said Jacqueline Yaft, Austin-Bergstrom International CEO. “We look forward to welcoming more talented professionals across a wide range of trades and professions to our airport. One of the most exciting and fulfilling things about a career in airport management or the air travel industry is getting to work alongside so many different teams and partners with the shared goal of serving our community.”
There will be entry-level, supervisor and management positions available. Beginning Oct. 1, 2022, the City of Austin Department of Aviation and other airport employers will be offering a $20/hr minimum wage with additional bonuses available.
