AUSTIN, Texas — It’s about that time for college football, and we all know that Texas has to go big. It’s bringing back Longhorn City Limits, presented by Still Austin Whiskey. This free concert is advertised as being “bigger and better than ever.”

Up-and-coming country star and San Benito, Texas, native Charley Crockett will headline the 2022 gameday concert series on Sept. 3, according to TexasSports.com. He will perform on the LBJ Lawn at 3 p.m.

Crockett’s music is a combination of “Gulf & Western,” using country, blues, soul, cajun, R&B and American originated sounds in his body of work. His latest album “The Man From Waco,” set to release on Sept. 9, includes his band, The Blue Drifters.

Having made an "Austin City Limits" television series debut last fall, Crockett has made stops at the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Stagecoach and Nelson’s annual Fourth of July Picnic, even joining Willie Nelson’s roving Outlaw Music Festival Tour this summer.

“What a fantastic way to kick off Longhorn City Limits presented by Still Austin Whiskey this season!” said Chris Del Conte, vice president and athletics director.  “If you haven’t caught Charley Crockett in person, do not miss this show.  It will be a great day of live music on the LBJ Lawn including the unveiling of new elements for Longhorn Nation to enjoy.”

According to TexasSports.com, an opening act will be revealed later. The silent disco will return as a fan favorite, featuring three live DJs. Participating fans get a pair of wireless headphones and can choose between three different channels.

For those 21 and up, you’re free to enjoy some alcoholic refreshments. You can visit the Tito’s Tailgate for their cocktails or go by the Still Austin Music Lounge for the signature Horns Up Bourbon Lemonade on ice and browse through some swag by Still Austin Whiskey Co.

Stubb’s BBQ will also be served.
