TEXAS — Not surprisingly, the reaction from Texas politicians to Biden’s address to congress falls along party lines.
Texas Democrats mostly praised Biden while Texas Republicans are warning Americans that the president is trying to promote a far-left, radical agenda.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Houston) prepared several lengthy tweets condemning Biden's speech calling it “The Real State of the Union” and saying “Biden’s radical vision for our country is an American nightmare.”
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott was also making his argument against Biden’s speech claiming he will raise taxes and kill jobs.
Rep. John Carter (R-Round Rock) also weighed in saying Democrats have accomplished nothing in his first 100 days. He also criticized H.R. 1, also known as “For the People Act of 2021.”
Rep. Roger Williams crticized Biden for stopping work on the Keystone XL pipeline, putting many people out of work.
Biden is also calling for immigration reform as well as reminding the country we are a nation of immigrants, a message Rep. Joaquin Castro (D-San Antonio) supports.
On the other side of the immigration argument Rep. Kevin Brad (R-The Woodlands) criticized Biden for rolling back the Trump administration's actions along the border.
Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Austin) praised Biden’s American’s family plan which Biden said focuses on aid for education and childcare to help families recover from the pandemic.
Rep. Collin Allred(D-Dallas) said he's ready to get to work.
