AUSTIN, Texas — Austin Water Monday morning announced that the boil water notice has been lifted for customers residing in its Central Pressure Zone.

The notice remains in effect for zones located in northern and southern zones.

That means customers in the designated zone no longer need to boil water prior to using for drinking, cooking or making ice.

The water in that zone has been tested and deemed safe for consumption by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

A city-wide boil water notice was put in place on February 17. The freezing weather led to a power loss at The Ullrich Water Treatment plant, Austin's primary source of water. That outage led to a reduction in water treatment capacity as well freeze-damaged delivery infrastructure.
