AUSTIN, Texas – According to an FBI bulletin, there is concern about further violence from supporters of President Donald Trump in the wake of the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol last Wednesday.

"Armed protests are being planned at all 50 state capitols from 16 January through at least 20 January, and at the US Capitol from 17 January through 20 January," ABC News reported Monday, citing an FBI bulletin

Tuesday marks the start of the 2021 Texas legislative session, and at the State Capitol in Austin, the Department of Public Safety isn’t taking any chances.

Just after 9 a.m. Tuesday, a small army of DPS troopers could be seen making its way to the Capitol grounds.

Prior to the start of the session DPS issued a release concerning increased security:

"The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is continuously monitoring events and their impact on public safety. As a result, the department has deployed additional personnel and resources to the Texas State Capitol. While we do not discuss operational specifics, DPS will continue to adjust our operations as needed to maintain public order and address potential threats. The department remains committed to proactively protecting the people and property of Texas.”
