ROUND ROCK, Texas – As the coronavirus pandemic worsens going into the holidays, movie theaters continue to have a rough time. Multiple films have had release dates pushed back and even in the case of new releases, such as the body-swap horror film Freaky, theaters are often nearly empty.

The latest casualty is Flix Brewhouse in Round Rock, Texas, which is described as “the only first run movie theater in the world to incorporate a fully functioning microbrewery!”

Visitors to the Flix Brewhouse website are greeted by a notice of the second shutdown, the blame for which is put on COVID-19, government regulations, and a lack of compelling film content.

Plans are in the works for a Flix Brewhouse location in Hutto, Texas, as well, but it’s unclear if that project remains on schedule.

Flix Brewhouse is hardly alone. The large chains are suffering as well, with AMC last week reporting a $1 billion loss in the third quarter.
