NATIONWIDE – Cottonelle has issued a recall for Flushable Wipes and GentlePlus Flushable Wipes sold in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean.
What You Need To Know
- Products sold from February to September are affected
- Some products may contain a type of bacteria
- Could make those with weakened immune systems sick
According to the company’s website, wipes manufactured between February 7 and September 14 may contain a bacteria called “Pluralibacter gergoviae” which they say can cause an infection in people with weakened immune systems. They say the bacteria rarely affects healthy people, though.
If you believe you may have an affected product, you’re asked to enter the lot number information found on the back of the packaging into this website.
You can also call 1-800-414-0165 and give the number to a customer service representative.
“At this time there is a low rate of non-serious complaints, such as irritation and minor infection, reported for the affected wipes,” reads the website.
If you did use the products and have experienced health issues they ask they you stop using them and talk to your doctor.
While customers are told they do not have to return the products to the store, refunds are available by submitting a reimbursement request with Cottonelle’s owners, Kimberly Clark. The company says it can take anywhere from three to six weeks for refunds to be issued.
