AUSTIN, Texas – Another Austin tradition is going virtual this year. On Monday, organizers of the Armadillo Christmas Bazaar announced the main event is canceled, but they will be offering online sales for the first time.

What You Need To Know

  • Art sale usually happens every holiday season

  • Going virtual for the first time

Organizers say this is the first time in the 45-year history of the event that sales will happen online.

The Bazaar supports independent artists and small businesses by gathering them in one place to sell original products and art ahead of the holidays.

“The Armadillo Christmas Bazaar has been on a mission to support arts and culture for 45 years and although we cannot safely have an event this season, we hope to still shine a light on all the incredible artists who, like so many other small businesses, lost their income when art shows across the country were cancelled due to the pandemic,” said Armadillo Christmas Bazaar producer Anne Johnson in a written statement. “While we’ll miss the festive tradition of dancing in the aisles to live music while shopping and discovering art, the Armadillo Art Concierge opens the door to reach people across the nation. We welcome and encourage shoppers to keep the spirit alive and bring a little Armadillo joy home for Christmas and every other day of the year."

This year online shoppers will find artist profiles, old maps of past layouts to help find favorite artists, and consultants that can help track down gifts.
