LAKEWAY, Texas – Whether you think it resembles a mushroom or something a little closer to its namesake, you’re unlikely to find a more unusual house in Texas, and if you’ve got $2 million lying around, it could be yours.
The Sand Dollar House, as it’s officially called, is located right on Lake Travis in Lakeway and is currently listed for $2,200,000.
Located at 819 Mariner, according to the listing it was completed in 1979 by John Covert Watson, who studied under Frank Lloyd Wright.
The listing states that every room in the 2,240-square-foot home “boasts commanding views of the lake.” The house is made of steel and gunite and with “sleek white curved wall throughout.”
The house was originally designed as a second home for artist Eugenia Hunt and was recently featured as part of the Austin Weird Homes Tour.
The house has three bedrooms, two full baths and one half bath, and sits on a 0.29-acre lot.
