TEXAS – Texans who play the lottery may be buying extra tickets ahead of Wednesday’s next drawing.

As of the end of August, the Lotto Texas drawing reached its largest amount in the last decade and continues to grow.

According to the Texas Lottery Commission, the more than $39 million prize is the largest this game has seen in more than a decade.

That prize was won in Dallas on May 29, 2010, and was a $97 million jackpot.

Lottery officials say there has only been one Lotto Texas winner this year, a person from Laredo who won $17.5 million in January.

The next Lotto Texas drawing is Wednesday evening.
