AUSTIN, Texas – The application period for the Relief of Emergency Needs for Tenants (RENT) Assistance Program is now open.

  • Will give funds to qualified Austin renters

  • $12.8 million in rent assistance is available

The RENT program will distribute $12.8 million to Austin renters who have lost some or all of their income due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will provide either one or three months of rent assistance depending on your income that will be paid directly to your landlord.

In order to qualify, you must live within the city limits of Austin and have a household income between 30 percent and 80 percent of the Median Family Income.

Applicants must also have an active leave or rental agreement, they can’t have gotten other federal rent help, and must be able to provide documentation on how the pandemic has impacted them financially.

Those who qualify will be selected randomly to receive the assistance.
