AUSTIN, Texas -- With COVID-19 taking a stronghold on Texas and its educational system, back-to-school dates are varying between districts and between the idea of in-person or virtual.

Below is a list to make adjusting to the new school year just a bit easier. Bear in mind that dates are subject to change:

August 13

Leander ISD -- A all students virtual through September 7. After that, parents will have a choice of virtual or in person learning. They are also offering hybrid programs.

Pflugerville ISD -- Will begin the school year 100 percent virtual for the first three weeks. Will take guidance from the local Austin-Travis County Health Authority regarding possible on-campus learning after the first three weeks of virtual learning. Once on-campus learning is permitted, students will either attend school via on-campus learning or continue with virtual learning.

Del Valle ISD – Tentative plan is to have 100 percent virtual school for first 8 weeks. Please check website for updates.

August 18

Austin ISD -- No plans to alter breaks or extend the year. If need be, classes will be suspended due to health and safety conditions, teaching and learning will continue online.

August 19

Lake Travis ISD -- Remote learning through at least September 7. This could change as the COVID-19 situation changes.

August 20

Round Rock ISD -- 100 percent virtual for the first three weeks. On September 10, parents will be able to continue online or move to in person sessions. Also at the end of each grading period a parent may choose to move back from in person to virtual.  And if conditions warrant, a student can change back and forth anytime.

September 8

Hays ISD -- Will be virtual (at-home and online) for the first three weeks of school. The anticipated earliest date students would return to school buildings for in-person learning is Monday, September 28. This could be further delayed depending on the progress in the community battling COVID-19. Parents will have the option to continue with at home learning or in person after September 28.

San Marcos CISD -- The first four weeks of school will be 100 percent remote instruction amid the rise in cases of COVID-19 cases. To assist with Remote Learning, SMCISD will expand the 1:1 device program to the elementary level to ensure every student in the district has access to a device for the 20-21 school year. Following the first four weeks of Remote Learning, SMCISD families will have the option to continue Remote Learning or transition to On-Campus Learning on October 5 (*subject to change). After the first four weeks, the active COVID-19 cases in Hays county will be reviewed and the Board and Superintendent may make a decision through a board resolution to extend remote learning for an extra four weeks.
