SEATTLE — The newest NHL expansion team, the Seattle Kraken, debuted the team name and a rather striking “S” logo on Thursday.
The team will be the league’s 32nd franchise and debut on the ice in the 2021-22 season.
Part of the Pacific Division and the Western Conference, the team will play home games at Climate Pledge Arena.
Accompanying the name and logo announcement Thursday was a maritime-themed video.
The team has a general manager in former Carolina Hurricanes GM Ron Francis and it has been announced that its American Hockey League affiliate will be based in Palm Springs, California.
Players will be selected via an expansion draft and a coaching staff has yet to be selected.
