TEXAS – After extending temporary pay raises for staff members multiple times, H-E-B officials say they’re making their pay raises permanent.

Back in March, the Texas-based grocery store chain announced it was giving temporary $2 per hour pay raises because staff were considered essential workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The raises were supposed to end in April but the company now says the raises will be permanent. The company is transitioning from its Texas Proud Pay which ended June 21, into a different long-term, permanent investments in its employees. 

According to a statement on the H-E-B website, this is the largest pay increase in the company’s history.

The company also announced that Martin Luther King Jr. Day will be a paid holiday for all staff.
