TEXAS — Showtime pushed back the premiere of its docuseries about former Leander High School football player Greg Kelley.

What You Need To Know

  • Premieres July 5, 8 p.m. CST

  • Kelley sentenced to 25 years in prison

  • He was later exonerated

OUTCRY, directed by Pat Kondelis and Bat Bridge Entertainment, was originally set to premiere at South by Southwest and on Showtime on March 3. But SXSW was canceled this year due to the coronavirus.

Instead, the series will premiere on Showtime on July 5 at 9 p.m. CST.

Kelley was accused of sexually assaulting a 4-year-old boy in an in-home daycare operated by Kelley’s family. In 2014, Kelley was sentenced to 25 years in prison.

Kelley maintained his innocence and pushed for a new trial. His attorneys argued that the investigation by the Cedar Park Police Department was deficient and Kelley’s trial attorney had a conflict of interest.

OUTCRY is a five-part series that examines the case from multiple angles and includes interviews with key players on both sides.

Kelley’s conviction of sexual assault of a child was overturned in November 2019 by the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals. In the same month, a judge officially exonerated Kelley.
