AUSTIN, Texas — The Salvation Army Austin is holding its annual Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, November 27.

Food will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 501 E 8th St. Anyone in the area who is hungry is invited to stop by and have lunch.

Volunteers expect to serve more than 300 meals at the event.

“This meal is for the people in Travis and Williamson counties. We are so grateful for the support we received throughout the year,” said Major Lewis Reckline, Salvation Army Austin Area commander.  “This meal is not just for the homeless, but for families and individuals who are alone on this day.”

The Salvation Army’s Downtown Austin shelter is a 242-bed facility that provides year-round assistance to people who are looking to change their current situation.
