DALLAS -- The Dallas Police Department believes it has found the remains of 18-month-old Cedrick Jackson.

Dallas police tweeted that they are still waiting for a positive identification.

“This is not the outcome we had hoped for and we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family.” DPD said in a tweet.

We regret to inform everyone that the department has located the remains of a small child, who is believed to be 18 mth old Cedrick Jackson; pending a positive identification.

An Amber Alert was issued late Wednesday night for a child who was abducted in Dallas.

The Amber Alert was discontinued Thursday afternoon, though police did not immediately disclose why.

Police arrested 27-year-old Sedrick Johnson and charged him with felony injury to a child causing serious bodily injury.
