AUSTIN, Texas – A festival celebrating one of Austin’s sister cities is back Saturday, July 13.
- Celebrates Oita, Japan
- Festival goes from 12-4 p.m.
- Held at Asian American Resource Center
The festival showcases Japanese culture and features food, music, and hands on activities for people of all ages.
Some of those activities include origami folding, learning how to use chopsticks, and wisking matcha tea.
This year, a troupe of Shodo performers will be flying in from Oita High School in Japan for the festival. Shodo combines dance, music, and calligraphy where participants work as a team while performing on large canvases.
Oita, Japan, is one of Austin’s 14 sister cities and has been Austin’s sister since 1990.
Adult tickets are $10 and children age 5-12 are $5. Any children 4 and under are free. The festival is from 12-4 p.m. at the Asian American Resource Center (AARC), 8401 Cameron Rd.
