AUSTIN, Texas – If you are looking for something to do this weekend, you may consider yelling “giddy-up” and blasting off to a new exhibit opening at the Bullock Museum.

The new exhibit, Cowboys in Space and Fantastic Worlds, takes a look at the history of westerns in science fiction.
The exhibit features 100 artifacts including a prop Star Trek phaser from the 1960s original series, a replica of Star War's Han Solo in Carbonite, and Serenity/ Firefly Malcolm Reynold’s “Moses Brothers Self Defense Engine Frontier Model B.”
Visitors can make their own Cowboys in Space comic book covers, listen to Space Cowboy songs, hear early western and science fiction radio programs, watch how the cowboy travels to space in film and television clips and hear the sounds of ray-guns, blasters, and phasers.
Cowboys in Space and Fantastic Worlds opens Saturday, July 13 and runs until December 1.
