GALVESTON, Texas – Several anonymous Galveston residents paid for a rainbow crosswalk to be painted in the city to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month.
- Pride crosswalks pop up in Galveston
- Privately funded by residents
- City says they are welcoming to everyone
The crosswalk is being painted along 25th Street at Ball, and 25th Street at Sealy Street. The rainbow pays homage to the local LBGTQ+ community during June, which is Pride Month.
The City of Galveston posted on its Facebook page that the community is welcoming to everyone.
The city granted permission for the new crosswalk after several residents stepped forward to privately fund it. No city funds or labor were used to create the crosswalk.
