KINGSLAND, Texas — Reconstruction of the RM 2900 bridge in Kingsland is almost complete.

  • New bridge will have more lanes

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) tweeted on Wednesday that the bridge is now connected on both sides. The next step is to finish the paving. Crews are laying down the last deck pours.

Raging floodwaters caused the bridge to collapse in October 2018.

The new bridge will be five feet higher and will include additional lanes. It is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

TxDOT was awarded an emergency contract to rebuild the bridge. The construction cost is $17.3 million. It includes incentives for the contractor, Capital Excavation, to complete the job as quickly as possible.
