HOUSTON, Texas – Houston police have located the car believed to be stolen and driven by the abductors of 4-year-old Maleah Davis.

  • Stepfather has not been heard from in days

An Amber Alert was issued on May 5 for the young girl after her stepfather claimed he was abducted with Maleah and his 2-year-old son. According to the stepfather, the family was taken by three Hispanic men who dropped the brother and father off while fleeing with Maleah.

The stepfather told police that he was knocked unconscious for nearly 24 hours by the abductors. Maleah was last seen at 8 p.m. on Saturday wearing a light blue Under Armor jacket, blue jeans, and gray Under Armor tennis shoes with pink details.

Since the weekend Houston police have been looking for a silver Nissan Altima from which Maleah was reportedly abducted. On Thursday, the Nissan was found abandoned in a parking lot.

A person who works for a cab company spotted the car police were looking for in Missouri City, within the Houston area. It was unlocked and shows no obvious signs of damage.

In a press conference, Homicide Detective Ken Fregia said the car will be transported to the police department for evidence processing.

At this time, police have not spoken to the stepfather in several days. Despite attempts to reach out to him to go to the station to composite a sketch of the suspects, the father has not been heard from.

“You would think that if your loved one is missing that you’d be coming forward and so he may have a legitimate reason I have not spoken with him,” said Fregia.

Investigators will now look to businesses surrounding the parking lot to see if security cameras show who left the car.
