AUSTIN, Texas – Country music legend and Texas native Willie Nelson celebrated his 86th birthday on Monday, and will be celebrating again on Tuesday. Yes, you read that right.

  • Born in Abbott, Texas
  • Celebrates birthday twice every year
  • Actual birthday incorrectly recorded by doctor

The Abbott, Texas, native celebrates twice every year as he was born shortly before midnight on April 29, 1933 but his birth date did not register at the courthouse until April 30, 1933.

Nelson's parents bought him his first guitar at the age of six and by the age of seven he was writing his own songs and singing in honky tonks by the time he was 13 years old. After a serving in the Air Force and a few years at Baylor University studying agriculture, Nelson’s career took off.

Nelson moved to Austin in 1972 and in 1974 came the pilot episode of a PBS program that starred Nelson: Austin City Limits.

In July of 2018, Nelson rolled out "Willie's Remedy," a CBD-infused coffee that is part of a growing line of CBD products.
