WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas — The Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter is over capacity with medium and large dogs. Since April 1, the shelter has received 411 stray animals, which is 85 more animals than the same time last year.
- WCRAS currently overcrowded
- Holding adoption special
- Runs Thursday through Sunday
In order to make space, the shelter is holding a blockbuster adoption special, “Adopters Assemble,” playing off the soon-to-be released movie, Avengers: Endgame. WCRAS is waiving all adoption fees on all adult dogs and cats. The special starts on Thursday and runs through Sunday.
“The Marvelous Mongrels, a ragtag group of super heroic dogs, are facing their most fierce opponent, space,” Cheryl Schneider, WCRAS animal services director said. “They are calling on Adopters, a team of extraordinary community members who possess the superpowers to save the shelter, to assemble and adopt. Only with the help of Adopters can the Marvelous Mongrels become victorious over their battle with Space.”
Schneider said with more storms expected this week, they are facing a formidable challenge that can only be overcome with the help of the community.
“We need adopters with super hero hearts to save our dogs,” she added.
Each adult dog and cat will go home with current vaccinations, a heartworm or FeLv test, a microchip, which the shelter will also register, a certificate for a wellness exam, and a sample of food.
Anyone interested in adopting can preview the adoptable dogs and cats on the shelter’s website.
