AUSTIN, Texas – Police are searching for an armed man who forced his way into a woman’s apartment and sexually assaulted her on Monday in North Austin.

At 4:30 p.m. a woman who lives on the 8800 block of North Interstate 35 received a knock on the door of her apartment.
According to police, the woman answered the door to find a man armed with a small gun pointing directly at her. The man then forced his way into her apartment and demanded money. The woman handed him her purse.
The man then told the woman to go to the bathroom, where he sexually assaulted her. The woman was able to escape and call 911.
Detectives believe the man was in the area for some time before the sexual assault and robbery occurred. He was also possibly accompanied by a Hispanic female.
Suspect description:
- Hispanic male
- In his late 30s
- Short black hair
- Mustache
- Tattoo under left eye
- Approximately 5-feet-7-inches tall
- Medium to heavyset build
- Tattoos on both arms down to wrists
- Last seen wearing black shirt and blue jeans
