AUSTIN, Texas – The city of Austin will celebrate the beloved Tejano singer Selena, showing that her memory will live on 24 years after her death.
On April 16, 1971, Selena Quintanilla Perez was born in Lake Jackson, Texas. A bill introduced to the Texas House proposes making Selena’s birthday a state holiday. The day would honor the award-winning singer for contributions to Tejano music.
