AUSTIN, Texas -- Capital Metro is expanding its service to provide transportation options for the thousands of people coming into Austin to attend SXSW 2019.

This year, as SXSW does not fall during spring break for area schools, the city is expecting to face a bigger transportation issue than usual.

CapMetro officials said that the agency will offer additional service from Friday, March 8 through Sunday, March 17. The agency opened a new Operations Control Center where representatives from various departments will be stationed to coordinate services.
HELPFUL TIPS:
• Visit the CapMetro website for MetroRail, MetroRapid and airport service and hours of operation information.
• MetroRail will likely be at capacity during the busiest days of the festival
• CapMetro’s added service includes extended hours for MetroExpress Route 985 from Lakeline and Leander, which will operate whenever MetroRail is operating.
• Customers who used the Leander and Lakeline Park & Rides are encouraged to catch Route 985 from Republic Square when the platform at Downtown Station is overcrowded.
