TEXAS – A new Texas bill will have Selena fans singing “Bidi Bidi Bom Bom.”

A new bill introduced to the Texas House proposes making Selena Quintanilla Perez’s birthday a state holiday.
Rep. Ana Maria Ramos, from the Dallas-area, authored the bill. If the bill is passed, April 16 will become Selena Quintanilla Perez Day across Texas.
The day would honor the award-wining singer for her contributions to Tejano music. Texans will be able to celebrate the day with annual ceremonies and activities.
Selena was born on April 16, 1971 in Lake Jackson, Texas. She was shot to death on March 31, 1995 at the age of 23 in Corpus Christi, Texas.
