WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Texas – More than $1 million worth of methamphetamine and cocaine was discovered hidden in the tire rims of a car during a traffic stop in Williamson County on Tuesday.

  • 110 pounds of meth and more than 60 pounds of cocaine and found in car
  • Hidden in car's rims
  • Driver arrested

The driver was stopped on Interstate 35 in Jarrell for following too close to another vehicle.

Deputies with the criminal interdiction unit found a total of 110 pounds of meth and more than 60 pounds of cocaine hidden inside the car. Steel traps were welded to the tire rims with 24 bundles of narcotics inside.

During a press conference Wednesday afternoon, Williamson County Sheriff Robert Chody said he believes the drugs came from the south and were being transported to Dallas. His worry, however, is that they would have wound up back in our area.

"We've had some experience where they go to Dallas, cut it up, and it comes right back to Central Texas. We have seen some increase of some overdoses in Williamson County based on opiods. This directly affects our community," Chody said.

Police arrested 37-year-old Lucia Garcia, of Eagle Pass, Texas. She faces felony counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

The street value of the drugs is estimated at $1.5 million.
