AUSTIN, Texas – Austin residents and SXSW 2019 attendees alike are preparing for what could be a traffic nightmare, as all three educational institutions in the city are holding their spring breaks a week after SXSW.
- AISD, UT Austin Spring Break week after SXSW
- Other area school districts also have late spring break
In the past, local spring breaks and SXSW have lined up, which provided some traffic relief while students and vacationers leave town while festival attendees pour into the city.
However, this will not be the case for 2019.
According to the calendar on the AISD website, spring break is scheduled for March 18 through March 22. UT Austin and Austin Community College both have their spring break scheduled for March 18 through March 22. SXSW is scheduled for the week prior, from March 8 until March 17.
In addition to Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville and Leander will have their spring break from March 18 through March 22.
