AUSTIN, Texas — The City of Austin is exhibiting the work of 113 local artists at The People’s Gallery at Austin City Hall.

The artwork is on view throughout the City Hall building. More than 350 artists applied to have their work showcased this year. The selected pieces include paintings, sculptures, drawings, and other media. Austin artists Vy Ngo, Ric Nelson, and Stephanie Sandoval served as jurors for the show.

According to the city’s website, the goal of The People’s Gallery is to highlight the work of local artists and encourage public dialogue, understanding, and enjoyment of art.

This is the 15th year the city has held the exhibition. Each year the public is invited to choose their favorite work and vote for the People’s Choice. Ballots are available at Austin City Hall. The city will purchase the winning art piece for its permanent collection.

The opening reception takes place Friday, Febrauary 22 from 6 – 9 p.m. The exhibition is free and will be on view at City Hall during normal business hours. The show runs through January 1, 2020. A cell phone tour of the work is available at austincityhall.oncell.com.
