  • Deaths currently under investigation

On Wednesday night, the community came together at the Oblate Missions Grotto to honor the lives of a mother and her two daughters with a candlelight vigil.

On January 10th, a woman in her 30s, a 16-year-old, and a 10-year-old were all found dead from gunshot wounds in their residence in Anaqua Springs Ranch.

“Beautiful girls, beautiful mother, the three of them just had this wonderful energy and vibrancy for life,” said Aaron Seaman, a friend of the family for the past 12 years. “Her daughters were her world.”

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s office found that the mother died by suicide, and the two girls were homicide victims. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office is still investigating the case.

“[She] was a very great person. I mean, she was always so funny and joking,” said Carlos Montez, Jr., the mother’s ex-husband, and daughter’s father. “She had a beautiful soul.”

The amphitheater was packed with the teen daughter’s cheer team, along with friends from all stages of the mother’s life, and even strangers who were moved by their deaths.

“My sister, my mom, my whole entire family loved her so much. I mean even to this day, our relationship as ex-spouses was great,” Montez said. “I never doubted her decisions as a mother. She always made great decisions and I knew, as a father, that whatever was best for [the mother] was going to be best for [her daughter].”

Authorities said that they are reviewing security camera footage, cell phone records, social media accounts, and GPS technology. Sheriff Salazar said that anyone with any information should contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at 210-335-6070.
