  • Older woman in her 30s died by suicide
  • Sheriff's office continues to investigate

The woman found dead with the girls inside of a home in an affluent neighborhood died by suicide, according to a preliminary report from the medical examiner's office.

Both of the girls were found dead with gunshot wounds. One of them has been identified as the daughter of the older victim, and the other girl has not yet been identified.

Sheriff Salazar said authorities are waiting on dental records to confirm her identification.

Salazar said that the investigation is ongoing and authorities are not confirming if the mother was involved in the young girls' deaths before killing herself.

“It is a murder investigation, at least with regard to the two young ladies. So certainly we have quite a bit of investigating to do, and we want to reassure the public that we are going to continue to do that. I also want to point out that the medical examiner’s findings are independent of what we may eventually find as we continue to conduct this investigation,” Salazar said.

There were four people living in the home. A man found the women and is currently being questioned.

Authorities said that they are reviewing security camera footage, cell phone records, social media accounts, and GPS technology. Sheriff Salazar said that anyone with any information, no matter how minute the details may seem, to contact the Bexar County Sheriff's Office at 210-335-6070.
