NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas -- The historic Brauntex Theatre in downtown New Braunfels is increasingly becoming victim to ticket scalping.

• Some customers paying three times the original amount of ticket price
• Tickets do not come with specific assigned seat

According to the Leanne Davis, the theatre's marketing coordinator, patrons are buying tickets from unauthorized websites, and paying an amount sometimes three times the original amount.

The tickets being resold are real, but do not come with a specific seat assigned, only a row, which causes a disruption on show nights. Resale sites often show up as sponsored links at the top of a Google search, which lead people to believe it's an official Brauntex ticket selling site.

"Unsuspecting people who don't know who just click on the first thing they see, they don't look, they don't pay attention to what site they're on," Davis said. "They're not paying attention to what they're Googling or what they're looking at, they're just clicking on the first thing they see and not reading it."

Davis said resale websites like Secure Box Office, Cheap Tickets and Vivid Seats are selling real Brauntex tickets, but for unassigned seats. If you do have one of these tickets, call the Brauntex Box Office and they will help you get squared away before show night.

Tickets for shows can be purchased at Brauntex.org/tickets or by going to the Brauntex Box Office in downtown New Braunfels. Davis also mentions she would like to see legislature put in place that would make ticket scalping illegal. She is planning on taking her concerns to lawmakers.
