Dede McConville lives in a cul-de-sac near New Braunfels High School. McConville said when she woke up Tuesday morning, she realized her yard signs and bumper stickers for Senate candidate Beto O'Rourke had been tagged with red spray paint.
"The smell of spray paint was still strong when I saw everything this morning, so I'm guessing it happened in the early morning hours," McConville said.
McConville estimates about a dozen other homes with signs supporting O'Rourke and other Democratic candidates were vandalized with spray-painted markings.
According to the New Braunfels resident, she said someone also spray-painted “Levae Texas” in on the street in front of her house. She shared photos of the vandalism on Facebook, and her post has since been shared hundreds of times.
McConville said this isn't the first time her political signs have been vandalized. Her other neighbors are 'horrified' that this has happened.
"This should not be something that scares people from voting, I hope this doesn't intimidate anyone because I know I won't be," McConville said.
McConville reported the latest incident to the New Braunfels Police Department on Tuesday. In a statement, the police department said it is aware of social media posts depicting several instances of vandalism to political signs and bumper stickers.
NBPD said it is looking for surveillance camera images that may have caught the culprits. Additionally, the department is offering a reward of up to $4,000 for any information about the identity of the vandal or vandals.
